Water where it should not be? Shut it off at the main, then call (214) 325-8046.
Some plumbing problems can wait for next week. A burst pipe, water coming up through the floor, sewage backing into a tub or a water heater emptying itself onto the garage floor cannot. Encore Plumbing handles urgent plumbing repairs across Midlothian, Waxahachie, Red Oak and the rest of the DFW metro, Monday to Saturday from 7 to 5.
When you call, tell us the water is coming in. We will ask what you are seeing, walk you through shutting the water off if it is still running, and get a licensed plumber out to find the cause and fix it. Leak detection is our specialty, so the hidden ones, under a slab or inside a wall, are exactly the jobs we are set up for.
If any of these is happening right now, shut the water off and call.
A split supply line, a failed fitting or a burst pipe in a wall or ceiling. Shut off the main first, then call.
Water surfacing on a slab floor, or a warm, wet patch that keeps spreading, usually means a line has failed under the concrete.
Sewage in the lowest tub, shower or floor drain points to the main line. Stop running water in the house until it is cleared.
Water pooling around the base of the tank. Turn off the cold supply at the top of the heater and the gas or power to it.
If the neighbors still have water and you do not, the service line between the meter and the house may have broken.
After a hard freeze like February 2021, pipes in attics, exterior walls and hose bibs can split. The leak often shows up when the ice thaws.
Smell gas? Leave the house and call the gas company or 911 from outside before you call a plumber.
In most DFW homes the main valve is in the garage, near the water heater, or outside where the line comes into the house. If you cannot find one, the shutoff in the meter box at the curb stops the water too. Turning it off stops the damage while you wait.
If the leak is on the hot side or at the heater itself, close the cold water valve on top of the heater, then set a gas heater to off or switch off the breaker for an electric one.
With the main off, opening a downstairs faucet or an outside hose bib lets the pressure out of the lines, so less water escapes from the break.
Get rugs, boxes and furniture out of the water, and photograph the damage before cleanup in case you need it later.
No. Our hours are Monday to Saturday, 7 to 5, closed Sunday. Outside those hours, shut off the water at the main to stop the damage, then call or text (214) 325-8046 so your message is waiting first thing.
Yes. Leak detection is our specialty. Acoustic listening, line tracing, scope cameras and pressure testing tell us where the water is before anything is opened.
Yes. We clear the main line, run a camera down it to find the cause, and repair or replace the damaged section so it does not keep happening.
